I don't know where the site's servers are located, so I can't tell if they're local or not. The server is capable of maxing out my connection at 900Mbps+, sustained, but some download attempts yield slower and/or erratic speeds so it's clear there's some kind of periodic congestion on Verizon's end.

Recently I found a semi-obscure music software site and it has large files for download, 1-2GB. The speedtests that give the best results are Comcast and ATT. Of course if I contact Verizon they're going to say 'test with our speed test', it will be perfect, and they won't do anything further.
When I first got gigabit, most of my speed tests got ~900Mbps down, but now I'm averaging 600-700Mbps down to any speed test.
Upload is generally above 900Mbps and not an issue. I've had gigabit since rollout and I've noticed a slowdown on the download too. The only speed test that I get 'correct' speeds is Verizon's test.
